ISD has Multiprofessional Residency in the rehabilitation area approved by MEC

The year starts with great news for the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD): The Ministry of Education approved the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Health Care for Persons with Disabilities proposed by ISD in public call 001/2017 of October 2017. In addition, the Ministry of Health awarded 08 scholarships to the aforementioned Program, through public notice, with ISD being the only beneficiary in the Northeast to have an approved proposal in the field of rehabilitation . In all, 72 institutions in Brazil had grant proposals approved, only three of which were in the area of rehabilitation.

The ISD Residence, which will be offered by Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS), in Macaíba/RN, is aimed at professionals in the areas of physiotherapy, speech therapy, psychology It is social service. Since October 2016, CEPS has been qualified by the Ministry of Health as a Specialized Rehabilitation Center - CER III, in the areas of hearing, physical and intellectual impairment. According to the Coordinator of the Multiprofessional Residency Commission (COREMU) at ISD, lilian lisbon, approval is very important as it offers residents the opportunity for in-service training in an interprofessional education and work environment, with the community-based education strategy. These professionals will work together for a period of two years, mediated by teachers, tutors and preceptors from different professions, in addition to being encouraged to renew knowledge, attitudes and skills to better meet the demands of the realities in which they are inserted. 

Strengthening the Care Network for Persons with Disabilities in the SUS

 

The Director of Teaching and Research at ISD, Reginaldo Freitas Junior, explains that the approved Multiprofessional Residency Program is a pioneer in Brazil and brings together the areas of teaching, research and extension, strengthening both the Care Network for Persons with Disabilities within the scope of the Unified Health System (SUS) and the National Plan for Rights of Persons with Disabilities – Viver sem Limite Plan: “The training of health professionals for comprehensive health care for these people cannot be dissociated from the great articulation of government policies on access to education, social inclusion, health care and accessibility. And, likewise, it needs to respond to the specific, individual and collective demands of people with disabilities in our region”. Reginaldo also points out that this is an important interface for joint institutional action between CEPS and the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS). “The professional who graduates from our Residency, throughout his or her training, will develop activities both at CEPS and at IIN-ELS and will also have the option of joining our Masters in Neuroengineering”, adds the Director.

 

Our Residency, which has a Political-Pedagogical Project planned by the ISD, is, at the same time, a challenge and also a great advance in the consolidation of the Institution's formative role in the context of education for the health professions.

According to Ordinance MS/SGTES No. 33, of January 22, 2018, published in the DOU of January 23, 2018, the selection of students must take place by March 31 and the start of the ISD Residency Program will be on 02 Of april.
