Posted in August 21, 2019

Did you know that breast milk is considered a food with a gold standard of quality? That is why this month we are celebrating Golden August, a campaign to encourage breastfeeding and which this year has the theme “Empowering mothers and fathers, promoting breastfeeding today and for the future”.

The multidisciplinary team of Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS), in Macaíba (RN), brought together future mothers in the context of the Arte de Nascer project to discuss this topic and promote a space for exchanging experiences and clarifying doubts. Also present at this activity were undergraduate Physiotherapy and Medicine students at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and residents of the Ana Bezerra University Hospital (HUAB), in Santa Cruz (RN), who took advantage of the occasion to perform body painting on two pregnant women.

The objective of the Dourado August campaign is to raise awareness among parents and family members about the importance of each one in forming a support network for women so that it is possible to maintain exclusive breastfeeding up to 6 months of life and in a complementary way up to 6 months of age. 2 years old child.
