The speech therapist and internship supervisor at the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS), Luana Aprígio, was interviewed on the program Câmara Inclusiva, on TV Câmara Natal, and spoke about the role of speech therapy in the care of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): “The speech therapist works with communication and is often one of the first professionals sought by families because one of the main complaints is that the child does not speaks, or has a delay in communication or communicates in a very peculiar way”, he explained.
In the interview, Luana also talks about the work carried out by the multidisciplinary team at CEPS, which since 2017 has operated as a Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER) for physical, hearing and intellectual disabilities. One of the clinics offered by CEPS assists children from 0 to 12 years old with ASD diagnosis and clinical follow-up.
The program also interviewed a neuropediatrician on the same subject. bianca serafim and the lawyer Nataly Pessoa, who is diagnosed with ASD.
