ISD joins the Territorial Committee for Integral Education of RN

On September 29th, the pedagogical team of Science Education Centers (CECs) participated in the XIV Expanded Meeting of the RN Territorial Committee for Comprehensive Education, when the inclusion of CEC Natal in this forum of experts was formalized, which reflects and develops public policies that promote integral education in the State. Dora Montenegro, Director of Science Education Centers (CECs), considers this an important space for dialogue with other education professionals: “With the formal inclusion of ISD in this Committee, the work carried out in the CECs can contribute to expanding the learning spaces necessary in the implementation of integral education”, she explained.

At the same event, at another time of the day, educators from the CECs of Natal-RN and Macaíba-RN also participated in the I Potiguar Journey of Integral Education, which took place at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), with the aim of fostering dialogue and reflection on Integral Education today, contributing to public practices and policies that can guarantee the achievement of the Goals of the National Education Plan related to this topic. The opening of the Day was made by the Professor Marcia Gurgel, Director of UFRN Education Center, representing the Rector Angela Maria Paiva. In her speech, Márcia highlighted the importance of the debate about integral education and the dialogue between the University, Education Departments, schools and other sectors of society to propose integrative practices.

Afterwards, there was a conference by the Professor of Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Jacqueline Moll, which addressed the theme “An Agenda for Integral Education in the 21st Century”. During her speech, the educator cited examples of Brazilian pedagogical practices that differ from traditional ones and promoted reflections on the reality and challenges of Integral Education in Brazil. Between 2007 and 2013, Jaqueline was director of Curricula and Integral Education at the Secretariat of Basic Education at MEC and is the author of several publications on Integral Education, including the book “Caminhos da Educação Integral no Brasil”, a reference in this area.
