Posted in May 16, 2022

Last week, the Municipal Secretariat for Work and Social Assistance (Semtas) of Macaíba held the II Inclusion Seminar. The theme of the event was “Care for people with disabilities in their entirety” and had the participation of the pedagogue preceptor from the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), Luzia Guacira dos Santos Silva, and the physiotherapist preceptor and coordinator of the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Care to the Health of Persons with Disabilities (RESPCD/ISD), Lorenna Santiago.

The Seminar opened with cultural presentations by the Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled (APAE) and the group from the Center for Living Together for the Elderly (CCI) in Macaíba. The Semtas team also provided information on the Continued Cash Benefit (BPC).

The ISD pedagogue preceptor, Luzia Guacira dos Santos Silva, was one of the speakers and spoke about the inclusion of people with disabilities in the elaboration of public policies. “Public policies have the function of promoting social well-being and assistance, aiming at improving the quality of life of each person with a disability. This well-being seeks to ensure their access to social security programs and guarantee assistance actions also directed at their families”, he explained.

At the event, council members of the Municipal Council for the Rights of People with Disabilities (CMDPCD) in the municipality were sworn in. The law that instituted the creation of the CMDPCD was enacted 16 years ago. The Council is an autarchy that plays an important role in public policies and guarantees the participation of society in public administration.
