The Neuroengineering Symposium, promoted annually by the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) in the municipality of Macaíba, in Rio Grande do Norte, celebrates its tenth edition in 2024. The event will take place between November 12th and 14th, encouraging discussion of topics such as the use of technologies and data for the detection and prediction of diseases, the origin of adverse emotions and the diversity of the brain.
The opening lecture of the congress will be given by Hugo Posada-Quintero, PhD in Biomedical Engineering and professor at the University of Connecticut, in the United States. The scientist, originally from Colombia, is visiting Macaíba with the lecture “Detection and Prediction of Diseases, Emotions and Neurodiversity through Biomedical Signals”.
Professor Posada-Quintero's research interests include the development of signal processing techniques, detection of neurological disorders and adverse emotions, and sensors for biomedical applications. Specifically, the goal of his research is to develop biomedical models and instrumentation for the detection and prediction of stress, fatigue, pain, emotional state, cognitive performance, among others.
The Neuroengineering Symposium
During its ten years of existence, the ISD Symposium seeks to complement the training and performance of researchers and students and stimulate the exchange of knowledge through the integration of professionals from different areas.
In 2024, the program will include lectures related to brain-machine interface, neuromodulation, biomedical signal and image processing, biomechanics, rehabilitation, emotions and others. The event will also feature poster presentations and scientific papers, with awards for the best productions.
In addition to the lectures, participants will be able to sign up for tutorials, in which they will attend theoretical and practical classes with professors and researchers who work in areas such as brain-machine interface for rehabilitation, neuromodulation techniques, memory and learning, among others.
Registrations
Registration must be made via the Symposium page on the website Congresse.me. The values are R$ 50 for students and R$ 100 for professionals.
