On May 16th the Art of Birth Project, offered weekly to pregnant women treated at the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS), in Macaíba (RN), addressed issues related to breastfeeding.

Myths, useful information, rights guaranteed so that mothers can breastfeed after the period of maternity leave and correct positions for breastfeeding, were some of the topics discussed in the conversation which was attended by CEPS medical preceptors, interns and residents of the medical course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).

The guest Maria José Ferreira, a nurse at the RN Military Police Hospital, helped clarify pregnant women's doubts and spoke about the importance of donating milk to the breast milk banks available in Brazilian cities. Maria José said that every woman who breastfeeds can be a donor, as long as she is healthy and does not use any medication. In Rio Grande do Norte, there are three milk banks and one of them is the PM bank, which, depending on demand, can collect it wherever the pregnant woman is. Information on how to donate to the milk bank at Hospital da PM do RN: (84) 3232-3669.
