The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) received, this Thursday (15), a visit from the undersecretary of programs of the Northeast Consortium, Anselmo Castilho. He visited the facilities of the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), one of the two ISD units, where research is carried out in the areas of neuroscience and neuroengineering and health care services are provided.
Castilho praised the structure and reinforced the Institute's relevance for scientific development in the Northeast region. The undersecretary took the opportunity to highlight the quality of health care provided by ISD, which he considered a reference in the Unified Health System (SUS).
“The idea is that we at the Northeast Consortium can integrate the state health departments with a view to innovating and providing benefits to citizens. We, specifically, are at the Santos Dumont Institute getting to know the high standards of the SUS in the Northeast,” he stated.
The representative of the Northeast Consortium was received by the manager of IIN-ELS, professor and researcher Edgard Morya. “The Santos Dumont Institute welcomes researchers not only from Rio Grande do Norte, but from other northeastern states. We are an open-door institution, one of whose main objectives is to produce science in the Northeast. We want to form more partnerships and continue helping with the development of the region”, projected Edgard.
Also participating in the visit were the director-president of the Augusto Severo Scientific and Technological Park (PAX), Olavo Bueno), and the PAX Innovation advisor, Irani Santos.
