The Brain Campus (CC) is an area managed by the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) that has buildings dedicated to education and research in neurosciences and neuroengineering. U<\/span>One of the buildings houses the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS)<\/a><\/strong>, where\u00a0<\/strong>are implemented<\/span>\u00a0laboratories of electrophysiology, neurorehabilitation, neurobiology, neuroengineering, neuroprosthetics, computational neuroscience, human-machine interface, conventional microscopy, confocal microscopy<\/strong>, neurosurgery, among other areas.<\/b>\u00a0The building also has an auditorium and spaces for scientific meetings and exhibitions.\u00a0<\/span>Since March 2018<\/strong><\/a> ISD's administrative headquarters are located in CC.\u00a0<\/p>

The implementation of the Brain Campus was made official in a Presidential Decree of\u00a0<\/span>December 12, 2007<\/b>. Financial resources are provided by the\u00a0<\/span>Ministry of Education (MEC)<\/b> and the execution of the work was the responsibility of <\/span>Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN)<\/b>, owner of the land and buildings belonging to the Campus.<\/span><\/p>

The management and responsibility for the Brain Campus rests with the ISD, through a <\/span>Contract for Assignment of Use of Public Asset <\/b>signed with UFRN, in May 2016, which enables the Institute to develop education, postgraduate and research activities on site.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
