In 2013, IIN-ELS offered the first Master&#039;s degree in Neuroengineering in Brazil. This course was recommended by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES, 33280010001P2) under the Basic Area <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/capes\/pt-br\/acesso-a-informacao\/acoes-e-programas\/avaliacao\/sobre-a-avaliacao\/areas-avaliacao\/sobre-as-areas-de-avaliacao\/colegio-de-ciencias-exatas-tecnologicas-e-multidisciplinar\/engenharias\/engenharias-iv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>Engineering IV<\/strong><\/a> of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/capes\/pt-br\/acesso-a-informacao\/acoes-e-programas\/avaliacao\/sobre-a-avaliacao\/areas-avaliacao\/sobre-as-areas-de-avaliacao\/sobre-as-areas-de-avaliacao#areas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">College of Exact, Technological and Multidisciplinary Sciences<\/a><\/strong>. In 2024, the PPGN requested the change from the Basic Area to the Area <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/capes\/pt-br\/acesso-a-informacao\/acoes-e-programas\/avaliacao\/sobre-a-avaliacao\/areas-avaliacao\/sobre-as-areas-de-avaliacao\/colegio-de-ciencias-exatas-tecnologicas-e-multidisciplinar\/multidisciplinar\/interdisciplinar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Interdisciplinary<\/a><\/strong>, with a favorable opinion from the new assessment area issued on February 25, 2025 (SEI 2677957).<\/p><p>This shift to the Interdisciplinary Basic Area reflects the PPGN&#039;s evolution toward a science without borders, seeking to train qualified human resources with scientific and technological production who contribute to the institutional mission of using science for the benefit of society. In this way, the PPGN encourages the training of professionals who join in tackling <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brasil.un.org\/pt-br\/sdgs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Sustainable Development Goals<\/a><\/strong> of the United Nations and use science to reduce inequalities and improve society.<\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-33551\" src=\"https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-1-1024x476.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-1-1024x476.png 1024w, https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-1-300x140.png 300w, https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-1-768x357.png 768w, https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-1-18x8.png 18w, https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/image-1.png 1045w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Neuroengineering is an interdisciplinary area that requires a comprehensive infrastructure <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/en\/laboratorios-abertos\/\">shared laboratories<\/a><\/strong> and, above all, technically qualified human resources with the behavioral skills to foster an interdisciplinary approach. Thus, the IIN-ELS was organized to bridge the existing barriers between the exact, biological, and human sciences. In an era when information generation and sharing occur rapidly, the mindset of future managers and professionals must be current, open, and interdisciplinary to contribute not only to the Northeast region, but above all to the development of Brazil.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting in 2025, the Master&#039;s in Neuroengineering has moved to the Interdisciplinary Basic Area and will continue to be offered free of charge and in person, lasting up to 24 months and with semester enrollment.<\/span><\/p><p>It is important to highlight to interested students that interdisciplinary training in the PPGN involves the integration of various basic knowledge in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com.br\/ilustrado-neuroanatomia-Instituto-Santos-Dumont-ebook\/dp\/B09ZBB2MKS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">neuroanatomy<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S258900422501082X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">neurophysiology<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aginganddisease.org\/EN\/10.14336\/AD.2025.0409\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">neurobiology<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/10447318.2023.2203006\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">schedule<\/a><\/strong> It is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ieeexplore.ieee.org\/stamp\/stamp.jsp?arnumber=11163517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">signal processing<\/a><\/strong>, with their respective <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/en\/laboratorios-abertos\/\">Standard Operating Procedures<\/a><\/strong> (POP) to be followed in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices, Clinical Research, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/en\/sobre-o-ceua-isd\/\">Ethics in Animal Research<\/a><\/strong> It is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/en\/sobre-o-cep-isd\/\">Ethics in Human Research<\/a><\/strong>.
