How many lives can we save if we work together sharing knowledge, efforts, and resources?<\/p>

It is easy to say, millions of lives can be saved if we work on solutions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>

Recently the Santos Dumont Institute<\/a> started to fight against the spread of the Coronavirus in two of its units in Macaiba\/RN, Brazil:<\/p>

1 \u2013 Anita Garibaldi Education and Research Center<\/a> provides emergency assistance for pregnant women and children with a known or suspected COVID-19 infection. If necessary, additional rooms can be used in the future.<\/p>

2 \u2013 Edmond and Lily Safra International Neuroscience Institute<\/a> provides face shields to prevent contamination of health care professionals, investigates low-cost mechanical ventilator system, breathing valves, and other personal protective equipment (PPE).<\/p>

Medical face shields are scarce or not available for health professionals of public and private hospitals in Rio Grande do Norte state. However, there are companies selling them from 5 to 18 US$. In only four days, we made and donated 200 face shields, and we are producing 800 more \u2013 with a daily increase in demand coming from hospitals. We are just starting the manufacture of open source emergency ventilator, printing ventilator valves, and looking for alternative solutions for valve filters (if you have any suggestions about it, we are happy to know).<\/p>

This work is voluntary, since we are practicing social distancing. 3D printing filament and acetate for face shield are sold out or the delivery dates are unsuitable. Building mechanical ventilators is expensive, and now we need your collaboration<\/strong>.<\/p>
