The Master's Student in Neuroengineering of the Santos Dumont Institute develops skills in multidisciplinary areas that integrate neuroscience and engineering methods to study the functioning of the nervous system and develop solutions for the limitations and dysfunctions associated with it. Among the skills developed by the students, we can mention the construction of microelectrode arrays, stereotactic surgery, electrophysiological recording, histological and immunohistochemical analysis, analysis and processing of neural signals, virtual reality systems, Lokomat and ZeroG in the rehabilitation of patients , prototyping, invasive and non-invasive stimulation, among others.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Professionals with a master's degree in Neuroengineering can work in numerous areas that encompass aspects of experimental, computational, theoretical, clinical and applied research at molecular, cellular and systems levels in different areas, such as Brain-Machine Interface, Neuromodulation, Computational Neuroscience and Signal processing, rehabilitation, Brain-Brain Interface, prostheses and orthotics, biocompatibility, neurodegenerative diseases, microcephaly, psychiatric and cognition diseases, among others, as well as continuing their studies in the neuroscience field and carry on teaching duties in educational institutions.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The maximum period for the qualification of scholarship students is up to 1 (one) year after entering the master's degree. Students who do not intend to apply for the scholarship can qualify within 18 months after entering the master's program. For all students, the defense of the master's degree must occur, without fail, up to 2 (two) years after entering the program.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The Graduate Program in Neuroengineering offers scholarships according to the availability of research funding agencies and other funding sources. When the number of scholarships is lower than the demand, the candidate students will be classified according to the following criteria: 1) length of enrollment in the course (students enrolled longer have priority in obtaining the scholarship); 2) classification in the selection process; 3) socioeconomic assessment.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

ISD fellows must not have an employment\/functional relationship \u2013 even if of an academic nature \u2013 with a perception of remuneration in the same metropolitan region or municipality where the PGIIN-ELS is located. The selection of the supervisor and project that the student will be working with is made during the application process. The students of the Master's in Neuroengineering of the Santos Dumont Institute can use all the infrastructure present in the units of ISD to develop their research and education chores. Activities usually take place between 8 am and 5 pm. Scholarship students must dedicate themselves exclusively to the Program.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

ISD provides free public transport between Natal and Maca\u00edba for its students and staff. Contact the Department of Research and Graduate Studies (pgiinels@isd.org.br) for details on timetables and routes. There are also options for vans and buses from the municipal transport system of Maca\u00edba and Natal. See the City Hall's page for more information.<\/p>

As for food, there are several possibilities, including canteens, cafeterias and delivery services. The center of Maca\u00edba is nearby and also offers food options. ISD provides free transportation between its research and health centers and downtown Maca\u00edba at lunchtime. Finally, the IIN-ELS has a small kitchen, with a refrigerator and microwave, which can be used for meals.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

All Master's students are required to present proof of English proficiency before completing the Master's.<\/p>

Certificates with a score of 5.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the following equivalents will be accepted:<\/p>

\u2013 Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC): 790
\u2013 Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 463 \u2013 Paper version
\u2013 Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 87 \u2013 Internet version
\u2013 Certificates equivalent to those listed in the common European frame of reference will also be accepted.<\/p>

Yes. One of the goals of the Santos Dumont Institute is to promote a doctoral program in Neurosciences and Health. The Institute has sought to meet the requirements of the Higher Education Personnel Improvement Coordination (Capes) for the opening of this program. Currently, students from other institutions can develop part of their doctoral project in partnership with the IIN-ELS.
