This is how the educator <strong>Esmeria Rovai<\/strong> thinks it should be the school of the 21st century. She was in Natal (RN) on May 4th and 5th visiting the <strong>Science Education Centers (CECs)<\/strong> of the capital of Rio Grande do Norte and Maca\u00edba (RN), because he saw in the pedagogical project developed in these two units of <strong>Santos Dumont Institute (ISD)<\/strong>\u00a0an experience more in tune with contemporary educational reality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The educator, who has a PhD in educational psychology, stopped teaching in 2012, but remains involved in the field by researching educational projects with different pedagogical proposals in the country: \u201cI found some current pedagogical projects that are more in tune with the reality of the 21st century and one of them is the experience of the CECs. Here I am, delighted with the work that is being developed here\u201d, says Esm\u00e9ria.<\/p>\n<p>[\/column]<\/p>\n<p><\/br><\/p>\n<p>[column width=\u201d1\/1\u2033 last=\u201dtrue\u201d title=\u201d\u201d title_type=\u201dsingle\u201d divider=\u201dfalse\u201d implicit=\u201dtrue\u201d]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1493_editada.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10166\" src=\"https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1493_editada-1024x702.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1493_editada\" width=\"450\" height=\"308\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/column]<\/p>\n<p>[column width=\u201d1\/1\u2033 last=\u201dtrue\u201d title=\u201d\u201d title_type=\u201dsingle\u201d divider=\u201dfalse\u201d implicit=\u201dtrue\u201d]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"center\"><em>Esm\u00e9ria participates in ongoing training for educators at CEC Maca\u00edba<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"center\">In her opinion, today&#039;s students need to be educated within a vision that places them as subjects of a life process: \u201cStudents are no longer accepting the content and the way this content is being taught to them. This school model is seen as boring. This situation needs to be reversed,\u201d emphasizes the educator.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esm\u00e9ria is a member of an association focused on quality education in S\u00e3o Paulo, GVive, and worked on a project in the 1960s called Gin\u00e1sio Vocacional (GV). After getting to know the CECs better, she recognized some similarities with GV, including the methodology adopted, which, through projects, makes students co-participants in their development plan. The educator also saw similarities in the idea of what it means to educate a citizen, committed to their own development, but also to the community where they live, based on the concept that the school itself is a community and the student is an active participant in the construction of this community.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finally, she noted that the CECs are managing to offer an attractive, desirable school, where students like school not because of the snacks or because they receive a uniform and meet their friends, but because they like to learn. \u201cIn the continuing education meeting between the CEC educators in Maca\u00edba and the teachers from the partner schools, I shared that they should take this idea to their schools, to make today\u2019s school
