A little over a year after the serious situation related to arboviruses that the country witnessed, the workshop \u201cSmart Technology for fighting Zika-Virus Epidemics\u201d brought together in Recife-PE, from September 10 to 13, a group of professionals from Brazil and the United Kingdom to discuss possible ways to face these public health problems.<\/p>

On September 11, 2017, the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) was represented by professionals from two of its units, in different lectures: the Coordinator of Health Education Activities at the Anita Garibaldi Center for Health Education and Research (CEPS), Lilian Lisbon<\/strong>, spoke on the topic \u201cParasacral modulation for bladder dysfunctions in children and adults affected by the Zika virus\u201d; the researcher at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), Manuela Sales<\/strong>, spoke on the topic \u201cResearch on vector-borne diseases\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cIt is important to raise awareness of the issue of elimination disorders, which involve neurogenic bladder and bowel, and to discuss possible follow-up and treatments for these conditions. The event promoted discussions and potential partnerships related to assistance in combating the Zika epidemic, both in Brazil and internationally,\u201d said Lilian.<\/p>

Manuela confirms that the event was an excellent opportunity to promote new partnerships between Brazilian and British researchers: \u201cWe at ISD are already closing new research projects aimed at the population affected by Zika\/Microcephaly, in collaboration with researchers from London South Bank University,\u201d said the researcher.<\/p>
