On August 30th, the educator of Science Education Center (CEC)<\/strong> from Maca\u00edba-RN, Sidinei Jose Schneider<\/strong>, participated in the IV International Seminar: Dialogues with Paulo Freire<\/strong>, which took place at the Central Campus of the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN), in Natal-RN.<\/p>

Sidinei, who is a historian by training, presented a paper in a discussion group with education professionals from several Brazilian states. Under the theme \u201cClassroom experiences: observing practice to reformulate myself as an educator<\/strong>", he explained about his experience as an educator at the Science and History Workshop at CEC Maca\u00edba, and how Freire's pedagogy has supported and improved his practice in education. He commented on the structure of the workshops, presenting examples of content covered in each one, and also presented and discussed with the group the scientific approach taken in the workshops, where educators seek to relate the content to the social context of the students. \u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Sidinei also said that the CECs, along with other units in Natal-RN and Serrinha-BA, aim to promote scientific education for elementary school students in the public school system, with the aim of contributing to the process of social inclusion: \u201cCEC Maca\u00edba is a space where education is used as a tool for humanization, democratization of science and citizenship formation. In order to achieve this educational purpose, students are encouraged to interact with different realities, expressing their opinions, exchanging knowledge with their peers and educators and, at the same time, learning to interact in the most diverse groups\u201d, explained the educator.<\/p>

In addition to this activity, Sidinei also participated as a listener in the event's dialogue panel, which featured reports on educational experiences from professionals from other Latin American countries.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
