UFRN professors <strong>Reginaldo Freitas J\u00fanior (Tocogynecology Department) and Izabel Hazin (Psychology Department) <\/strong>coordinate the project. Reginaldo, who is also Director of Teaching and Research at ISD, highlights the importance of this initiative: \u201cThe inclusion of Re(h)abilitar in RUTE represents yet another strategy to strengthen permanent health education actions developed by ISD. The Network is an important channel for collaboration and communication in teaching and research, in addition to interconnecting all federal higher education institutions and federal research units\u201d.<\/p><p>This project is coordinated with the Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER III), of the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS), and the Multiprofessional Residency in Health Care for People with Disabilities at ISD, recently approved by the Ministry of Education . Furthermore, the choice of Microcephaly as the central theme for 2018 is the response to a serious social demand that ISD understands as a priority at this moment\u201d, explains Reginaldo.<\/p><p>Throughout the year the central theme of the meetings will be the habilitation of children with Microcephaly. The choice for this theme is due to the high rate of cases in newborns in 2015 (54.6 cases per 100,000 live births), especially in the Northeast region (139 cases per 100,000 live births). In 2018, these children enter school age and, with this, the need for support for hearing, physical and intellectual qualifications increases to facilitate social and school inclusion.<\/p><p>The Re(h)abilitar Project meetings will be coordinated by ISD, \u200bUFRN, Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (UESB) and Universidade Federal da Para\u00edba (UFPB) and will be accessible to all Brazilian institutions that have links with Rede Rute.<\/p><p>External interested parties can follow the meetings, requiring a broadband connection and an audio device.
