On April 9, 2018, the first class of Multiprofessional Residency in Health Care for Persons with Disabilities<\/strong> of Santos Dumont Institute (ISD)<\/strong>. After completing the selection process, which final result<\/strong> <\/a>was announced on March 28, eight professionals from physiotherapy, speech therapy, psychology and social services will begin work in Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS)<\/strong>, ISD unit located in Maca\u00edba (RN).<\/p>

Those selected for the Institute's Multiprofessional Residency will develop, over the course of two years, skills aimed at the practice of comprehensive care, through the articulation of promotion, prevention and rehabilitation actions, seeking joint action by professionals in a multi and interdisciplinary manner.<\/p>

lilian lisbon<\/strong>, Coordinator of the ISD Multiprofessional Residency Committee, explains that the training of residents at CEPS will be mediated by tutors and preceptors from different professions: \u201cDuring training, the members of our Residency will be encouraged to renew their knowledge, attitudes and skills to better meet the demands of the realities in which they are inserted\u201d, says L\u00edlian.<\/p>

The Director of Teaching and Research at ISD, Reginaldo Freitas Junior<\/strong>, states that the Institute's Multiprofessional Residency is based on interprofessional education and work: \u201cthinking about health training to respond to the demands of the 21st century leads us to discuss the reorganization of this training in which students or professionals from two or more courses, or professional centers, learn about others, with others and among themselves, collaborating towards the ultimate goal of improving health care through teamwork\u201d, adds Reginaldo.<\/p>

The Coordinator of the ISD Multiprofessional Residency also emphasizes that interprofessional education strategies for the development of Multiprofessional Health Residencies (RMS) can be considered important alternatives in the training scenario for strengthening the Unified Health System (SUS).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

CEPS CER works in physical, intellectual and auditory rehabilitation<\/strong><\/h3>

\u00a0<\/p>

Since October 2016, CEPS has been authorized by the Ministry of Health as Center Specialized in Rehabilitation (CER III)<\/strong>, in the areas of hearing, physical and intellectual disabilities. The ISD Residency Program, a pioneer in Brazil, brings together the areas of teaching, research and extension, strengthening both the Care Network for People with Disabilities in the context of the SUS, and the National Plan for the Rights of People with Disabilities \u2013 Plano Viver sem Limite. In addition, the Program includes the interface of joint action with the Postgraduate Program in Neuroengineering of the\u00a0Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), <\/strong>another ISD unit also located in Maca\u00edba.<\/p>

The actions of the CER III of the CEPS are organized into the following clinics: Epilepsy (child and adult); Parkinson's; Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); Spinal Cord Injury (child and adult); Microcephaly; Hearing Impairment (child and adult); Extreme Prematurity.
