Representatives of Santos Dumont Institute (ISD)<\/strong><\/a> and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE)<\/strong><\/a> signed a scientific cooperation agreement on April 23, in Maca\u00edba-RN. The document establishes and regulates the bases of a technical and scientific cooperation program between institutions, with emphasis on the area of Neurosciences<\/strong>.<\/p>

This is the sixteenth scientific collaboration agreement signed by ISD, being the first after the beginning of operation of the Brain Campus<\/strong>, which took place last March. With the new headquarters, the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS)<\/strong><\/a> seeks to further expand access to its laboratories for research institutions and universities in the Northeast and other regions of Brazil.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In addition to expanding access to the IIN-ELS research infrastructure, the partnership signed with UFPE aims to strengthen relationships and encourage joint work between the Research Programs. Postgraduate in Neuroengineering<\/a><\/strong>, from IIN-ELS, and in Human Communication Health,<\/a> <\/strong>from UFPE. \u201cIn Pernambuco, we work with human communication, a subject that has multiple interfaces with neurosciences. We study related topics, such as chewing and swallowing, which are important for the treatment of patients with Parkinson's<\/strong> It is autism<\/strong>, for example. We are very impressed with the infrastructure of the Santos Dumont Institute and we believe that both institutions have a lot to gain by joining scientific and academic efforts\u201d, he explained. Joint research and exchange of students and teachers<\/strong><\/h2>

The first action resulting from the cooperation agreement signed between ISD and UFPE will be the exchange <\/strong>between the two postgraduate courses. \u201cWe intend to develop joint projects and encourage academic mobility between the two programs\u201d, informs the director of Teaching and Research at ISD, Reginaldo Freitas Junior<\/strong>.<\/p>

The expectation of the ISD management is to expand the formalization of partnerships such as the one signed with UFPE to other universities and research institutions, sharing scientific knowledge and infrastructure as a strategy for strengthening Brazilian science<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
