Doing Right(s)<\/strong> is a project developed since 2016 by Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS)<\/strong> which promotes strategies for the prevention and reduction of violence against children, adolescents, women and trans women victims of sexual violence and articulates actions involving the various social segments of Maca\u00edba in the areas of Health, Education, Social Assistance, Public Security, Judiciary and Defense of Rights.<\/p>

In allusion to the National Day to Combat Abuse and Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents, celebrated on May 18, CEPS promoted several dialogue actions with the public in order to provoke reflections on this complex social problem and address ways of coping with this type of violence.<\/p>

On May 17, preceptors and multidisciplinary residents in the health care of people with disabilities at CEPS promoted an educational action in the waiting room for users in attendance. On the same day, the multidisciplinary preceptor and social worker, Alexandra Lima<\/strong>, spoke about the Making Right(s) project on the \u201cVoz da Comunidade\u201d program on R\u00e1dio de Maca\u00edba. And to close the actions alluding to May 18th, the team promoted, within the scope of the Health in Schools Project, an awareness-raising action at the Professor Paulo Nobre State School, in Maca\u00edba, talking to Elementary School II students about ways to prevent abuse and sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Actions within established protocols and guarantee of citizenship<\/strong><\/h3>

The Making Right(s) project has two lines of action:<\/p>

\u2013 Care service for children, adolescents, women and trans women who are victims of sexual violence residing in Maca\u00edba (RN). To do the right thing in this case is to welcome the victims within the protocols established by the various services involved in an intersectoral manner;<\/p>

\u2013 Permanent health education actions aimed at educators, health professionals, managers and government agents, aimed at raising awareness and ways to combat sexual violence against children, adolescents, women and transgender women. Here, the name of the project refers to the full exercise of citizenship based on access to information on the subject of violence.<\/p>

In 2018, the project hosted 16 victims of sexual violence at CEPS Anita Garibaldi, 05 women and 11 children. Also in that year, Fazer Direito(s) was awarded R$ 10,000.00 by the Special Criminal Court of Maca\u00edba in the \u201cDevolver para Reparar\u201d action, which benefits institutions providing relevant services to society through the transfer of funds arising from pecuniary penalties . The amount received in the award was used to fund actions and materials for the project.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

National data show harsh reality<\/strong><\/h3>

In Epidemiological Bulletin of the Ministry of Health released in June 2018<\/strong><\/a> contains data from Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN)<\/strong> that are little known: In the period from 2011 to 2017, 219,717 notifications of violence against children and 372,014 against adolescents were registered. During this period, 184,524 cases of sexual violence were reported, 58,037 (31.5%) against children and 83,068 (45.0%) against adolescents. If we compare the years 2011 and 2017, there is an increase of 64.6% in sexual violence against children and 83.2% in reports of sexual violence against adolescents. According to information from professionals who work in this type of service, it appears that most acts of sexual abuse and violence are committed by close people, many of whom are relatives such as parents, uncles and grandparents.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Service:<\/strong><\/h3>

CEPS Anita Garibaldi welcomes victims of sexual violence in Maca\u00edba\/RN (women, trans women, children and adolescents) Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 17:00<\/strong>, without the need for a prior consultation appointment. On weekends and holidays, the Maca\u00edba UPA assists the victims, who are referred to the CEPS Anita Garibaldi multidisciplinary team on the next working day.<\/p>

The national service for denouncing sexual violence against women, children and adolescents is the Dial 100<\/strong>, which is open 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays. Calls are free and complaints are made anonymously.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
