The Parasport Course, which had its last meeting on May 25, added theoretical and practical classes, providing a multidisciplinary view of the process of inclusion in sport. The objective of the training was to awaken in the participants a look at the potential of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and to offer tools that allow the practice of parasports in this context.\u00a0<\/p>

For Camila Sim\u00e3o, multidisciplinary preceptor at the Health Education and Research Center (CEPS) and member of the training organizing committee: \u201cSports can be used as a 'means' to develop important skills to promote the functionality of people with disabilities in the rehabilitation context. And it can also be used as an 'end' to favor social participation, socialization and the practice of physical activities per se.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

At the end of the course, held during five monthly meetings since January, the participants had the opportunity to give their opinion about the experience. \u201cIt's good that we had the opportunity to talk about the universe of inclusion and its possibilities\u201d, commented one of the members. \u201cIt's great to see rehabilitation going beyond the walls of clinics and having more playful ways of doing it\u201d, was another comment from one of the participants after the closing of activities.<\/p>

The Parasports Course was promoted by the Santos Dumont Institute, through the multidisciplinary team and Residents of the\u00a0CEPS\u00a0<\/strong>and researchers and students of the Masters in Neuroengineering from\u00a0Edmond and Lilly Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS)<\/strong>, in partnership with the Municipality of Maca\u00edba, through the Department of Sport and Leisure,\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0<\/strong>National Association of Sports for the Disabled (ANDE)<\/strong>. The training was supported by\u00a0Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB)<\/strong>;\u00a0<\/strong>Strength in Sport Program (PROFESP), of the Ministry of Defense<\/strong>; It is\u00a0<\/strong>Wings Institute for Sport, Culture and Citizenship (IAECC)<\/strong>.<\/p>
