Last weekend, from August 16th to 18th, the second edition of Campus Party took place in Natal (RN). The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) was present at the event, which brought together more than 20 thousand people, including students, professionals and those interested in topics such as technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.<\/p>

The external area of the Natal Convention Center, the event location, was dedicated to Open Campus: a free space open to the public with attractions related to Education of the Future, Drones, Simulators, among other things. In an area provided by Natal City Hall, the ISD team held an exhibition on the history, activities and services of the Institution, also presenting the two main lines of research of the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS): brain interface -machine and neuromodulation.<\/p>

To illustrate the exhibition in a practical way, some resources for interaction with the public were used: prostheses for people who had a limb amputated, orthoses used in the rehabilitation of patients who suffered strokes, electrodes for capturing brain signals and electrodes for spinal cord stimulation in people with Parkinson's disease.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The audience was diverse: the stand welcomed children from municipal schools in Natal, to university students and researchers. In addition to the exhibitions at the stand, the following were also held outside: Workshop<\/em> on task management and lecture on scrum<\/em> in academic projects, taught by the Coordinator of the ISD Academic Secretariat, Marcelo Carvalho; presentation on Activation and control of prostheses using human-machine interface, by the Master's student in Neuroengineering at IIN-ELS, Gabriela Albuquerque; and an exhibition on Implantation of intracerebral microelectrodes in the application of brain-machine interface carried out by the Master in Neuroengineering graduated from IIN-ELS, Jo\u00e3o Rodrigo de Oliveira.<\/p>

The internal space of the event, called the Arena, was accessible to people with tickets and the ISD was also present there: Master in Neuroengineering Rommel Ara\u00fajo gave the lecture \u201cHow to connect a brain with an Arduino\u201d, and master's student Alex Aquino gave a exhibition on \u201cBrain-machine interface: decoding the brain\u201d.<\/p>

The IIN-ELS Postgraduate Coordinator, Fabr\u00edcio Brasil, mentions that it is very important to participate in events like this to publicize the work carried out at the Santos Dumont Institute, both in the area of health and in research in neurosciences and neuroengineering.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
