In reference to World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Day (10\/25), the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD)<\/strong> promoted on Sunday, 10\/27, an action in partnership with the association Neurinho<\/strong> which took place at Parque das Dunas, in Natal (RN). Students from the Multiprofessional Residency in Health Care for People with Disabilities, from the Master's in Neuroengineering, researchers and members of the ISD multiprofessional team, as well as patients and their families, participated in the activity that aimed to inform and raise awareness among the population about this congenital malformation of the spinal cord.<\/p>

On that occasion, a wheelchair circuit was proposed, as well as another route using lower limb orthoses, with the aim of raising awareness and providing an experience of the difficulties of this physical limitation, which, in Brazil, affects approximately 1 in every thousand live births. It was also a time to disseminate information on the subject and to socialize with a picnic and games for the children who were present. We thank everyone who was with us on this afternoon of knowledge exchange!<\/p>
