The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) will resume the Arte de Crescer project from May 19th, an initiative that seeks to enhance the development of social, affective, cognitive and neuropsychomotor skills in children cared for at the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center,<\/a> from ISD.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

With a focus on \u201cGuidelines to enhance the development of babies\u201d, the project \u2013 which until 2020 was face-to-face \u2013 will now remotely monitor newborn babies of mothers who received high-risk prenatal care at Anita\/ISD for six months, with the help of videos produced and recorded by medical preceptors, multidisciplinary professionals and residents of the Institution.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Breastfeeding, colic, reflux, feeding, positions that can calm and bring more comfort to the baby. Issues like these, which are among the main doubts and insecurities of women in the first months after giving birth, will be the target of the guidance and tips provided by the multidisciplinary team at Anita\/ISD.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Now, the new virtual format of the project \u2013 which had its meetings interrupted in the first half of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic \u2013 includes the production and dissemination of informative videos and the creation of a virtual discussion group, which will be made available to mothers of newborn babies who were treated at Anita\/ISD. The expectation is that 10 babies and their mothers will be monitored for a period of six months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cThe goal is for us to provide guidance via video for these families every month, related to what we consider important and also listening to them, understanding their needs so that we can try to help with the care of the babies at home and maximize their development skills,\u201d says <\/span>physical rehabilitation coordinator, physiotherapist and multidisciplinary tutor at Anita, Camila Sim\u00e3o.<\/span><\/p>

In 2020, before the pandemic, the project held two workshops with mothers and babies and with the participation of undergraduate students in Physiotherapy and Psychology. Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte<\/a> (UFRN), in addition to residents of the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Health Care for People with Disabilities and the multiprofessional team.<\/span><\/p>

PROFILE\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

Users who will have access to guidance from Arte de Crescer are women who had a complicated pregnancy and received high-risk prenatal care, one of the health services in which ISD is a reference for the 7th health region of Rio Grande do Norte, which includes the municipalities of Maca\u00edba, Natal, Parnamirim, Extremoz and S\u00e3o Gon\u00e7alo do Amarante. The women who are mothers of newborns that the project will seek to reach are all residents of the municipality of Maca\u00edba\/RN, headquarters of ISD.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cSince these mothers are users who received high-risk prenatal care, it is important to monitor these children because there may be complications postpartum and in the first months of life. There are tips to improve the quality of life of this baby and this mother and guidelines that can ensure full development for the child,\u201d she explains. <\/span>Camila Simon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

RECORDING<\/b><\/p>

Important issues related to the first phase of children's development, such as motor, cognitive, emotional and language aspects, will be part of the videos recorded by the Institute's multidisciplinary team involved in the project. The first recording of the content took place this Wednesday (05) and focused on positions and techniques to calm babies. The content should be made available to project participants on May 19 and there is a prospect of making it public in the future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The project's new format is being developed by pediatrician preceptors, multidisciplinary physiotherapist preceptors, psychologists and speech therapists, neuropsychologists, as well as Multidisciplinary Residents in Health Care for People with Disabilities and undergraduate students in Physiotherapy at UFRN. The group works together to come up with the best guidelines and the best way to involve users in the project, even if virtually, and they record and edit the videos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

EXPECTATION<\/b><\/p>

According to Camila Sim\u00e3o, the new format is still a type of experiment with users, but there is an expectation of making this content public. \u201cIn the future, we intend to expand the project beyond the public we serve and, who knows, make these videos public, knowing that these guidelines can be useful,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

THE PROJECT<\/b><\/p>

The Art of Being Born is an ISD initiative that seeks to enhance the neuropsychomotor, cognitive, affective and social skills of children cared for at Anita. In an interdisciplinary way, the project, in effect since 2017, aims to contribute to child development in Early and Secondary Childhood.<\/span><\/p>

The work was developed through face-to-face workshops for Anita users and their families, also providing undergraduates in curricular internships and multidisciplinary residents with knowledge and understanding about early psychomotor intervention that occurs between 0 and 3 years of age.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
