Healthcare professionals who are part of the multidisciplinary team at the Specialized Rehabilitation Center at the Santos Dumont Institute (CER ISD) met on Monday, the 28th, to discuss competencies in healthcare for people with disabilities as part of the annual Preceptorship Workshops. The purpose of the meetings, which take place monthly, is to improve the preceptorship work process and disseminate content to residents, undergraduates and masters students.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

According to multidisciplinary preceptor Samantha Maranh\u00e3o, who coordinates the Teaching and Research in Health activities at the Santos Dumont Institute, the Preceptorship Workshop is an internal continuing education strategy for improving and updating work processes in preceptorship and healthcare for people with disabilities. \u201cStudents leave the ISD with greater awareness of the professional skills associated with healthcare for people with disabilities. The difference this makes is a qualified professional performance that is attentive to what is needed to care for the health of this population,\u201d she comments.\u00a0<\/p>

The approximately 30 preceptors, including physiotherapists, psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, occupational therapists, neuropsychologists, nutritionists, child neurologists, speech therapists, pedagogues, obstetricians and child orthopedists, who participated in the Workshop, read the article entitled 'Core Competencies on Disability for Health Care Education'.\u00a0<\/p>

From there, the professionals discussed strategies on how the preceptor can narrow the gap between theory and practice, in addition to assuming the role of support to help the new professional acquire practice, until he or she has greater confidence and security.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
