Understanding the anatomy of the Nervous System is a fundamental step towards the development of solutions and the study of the pathologies that affect it. With the aim of facilitating the understanding of Neuroanatomy for people from different areas of knowledge related to Neurosciences, from Engineering to Health Sciences, the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), by through their Department of Morphology, launch this Monday (2) the Illustrated Guide to Neuroanatomy. Innovative, the material brings, in simple language and with more than 200 illustrations, the main aspects that need to be known by students and researchers.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Released in the formats of <\/span>ebook <\/span><\/i>(digital book) and physical book, available on the Amazon sales platform, the Guide was conceived by a specialized team that, in addition to illustrating several selected anatomical pieces, also establishes correlations between the theoretical and practical components of the discipline, in order to promote a broad vision for students from different areas, so that they can associate the contents with themes seen in the classroom.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The book was organized by professor-researchers Bento Abreu, professor of Human Anatomy at the Department of Morphology at UFRN, and Edgard Morya, current manager of the International Institute of Neurosciences Edmond and Lily Safra (IIN-ELS), one of the ISD units in Maca\u00edba (RN).<\/span><\/p>

The process of producing the material took about four years, and the specialists had to look for figures, illustrations and ways of relating the content explained with different situations that made sense for different audiences. \u201cThe book consists of 15 chapters that present the anatomy of the Nervous System. We speak from the general imagination of the population of what the brain is, and we explain all these structures in a very basic way\u201d, says Bento Abreu. According to him, the book will allow Neuroanatomy to be introduced to undergraduate and graduate students, inside and outside the Biomedical area. \u201cIt is a book that, despite being robust, is very accessible, aimed at those who have not yet had contact with the anatomical or biomedical area, but who will be able to venture out from there and seek more in this area\u201d, he completes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

According to Edgard Morya, improving the integration between the fields of Exact, Health and Biological Sciences is a necessity for interdisciplinary areas, such as Neuroengineering. \u201cThe Guide has a differential: it unites a bit of physiology and also application. So, in addition to seeing the anatomical pieces and their names, the student will be able to relate them to clinical cases and future applications\u201d, he says. In the ISD unit coordinated by the researcher, the first Master's Degree in Neuroengineering recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC) is located, where students and professionals from different areas such as Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science, among others, come together to try to broadly understand the functioning of the Nervous System, its pathologies, and develop solutions aimed at rehabilitation and conditions related to its functioning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
