The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) began preparation activities for the Neuroengineering Symposium, which takes place in November. The annual meeting seeks to strengthen the discussion and dissemination of science, education and health, uniting local and international audiences. The first confirmed participant is Canadian engineer and scientist Tom Chau, a prominent name in the area of developing technologies aimed at accessibility for people, especially children, with physical or intellectual disabilities.<\/p>

Chau works in the field of Brain-Machine Interface (BMI), through which he studies the possibilities of communication between the brain and electronic devices. The production of orthoses to improve social inclusion is part of this area of study. The work coordinated by the researcher facilitates the implementation of techniques and products that boost communication and motor functioning, positively impacting the lives of thousands of people.<\/p>

The opening lecture's theme is translational research, an area focused on the relationship between the development of scientific research and care for the population, which can generate direct benefits for users of health services. The theme is part of the work of the guest researcher and also of research in ISD units.<\/p>

The 2022 Neuroengineering Symposium takes place in two formats: hybrid and in-person. For ISD professor and event coordinator, Ram\u00f3n Hypolito, the event plays a fundamental role in the development of regional science. \u201cWe are reopening our doors in a hybrid and in-person event. We hope to facilitate integration and collaboration between participating scientists\u201d, says Ram\u00f3n. Registration for the Symposium opens in early October. In the coming weeks, the full schedule will be released.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

It is a Social Organization linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC) and includes the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neurosciences and the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center, both in Maca\u00edba.
