More than 500 students from public and private schools in Greater Natal participated in the 1st Science Fair and Scientific Exhibitions at the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) during the first week of October. The event, supported by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), brought together children and teenagers around activities such as short courses, visits to laboratories, poster exhibitions and work awards. highlighted.<\/span><\/p>

One of the award-winning projects was presented by student Ana J\u00falia Lopes, from Escola Agr\u00edcola de Jundia\u00ed, who developed a gamified application to stimulate the development of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). \u201cI chose this topic because children with ADHD suffer a lot of prejudice in various areas of society, so I saw an opportunity to help them, which makes me very happy,\u201d says J\u00falia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In addition to her, other students presented work in areas such as emotions, food and new technologies. Fair participants also had the opportunity to learn about, through short courses led by ISD master's students, the universe of robotics, microscopy, memory and 3D printing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Anderson Ribeiro, teacher at the Deputado Jess\u00e9 Pinto Freire Filho State School (CAIC), in Maca\u00edba, says he is ecstatic about the event. For him, seeing students engaged with science is a privilege. \u201cMany of our students don\u2019t believe in the world we present to them through classes and books, so these initiatives have positive impacts. My goal is for students to become increasingly competitive and realize the value they have. We have a lot of talent here\u201d, he comments. In this edition, two students from the Jess\u00e9 Pinto school were awarded by the Fair's scientific committee.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

ISD research teachers, Andressa Radiske and Carolina Gonzalez, members of the organizing committee, share the same feeling as the teacher. \u201c<\/span>It is a great satisfaction to witness children's joy when they see for the first time how a microscope works or how a robot can be programmed. The moment of the award was also very exciting, as the celebration always included the medalists and the school\u201d, said Andressa.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

According to Carolina Gonzalez, fairs of this type are capable of stimulating interest in research in young people, \u201cin addition to promoting creativity, investigative capacity, safety and teamwork\u201d. For Fair participants, the good news doesn't stop: in the coming weeks, the organizing committee will publish, via email, the names of the students who will win a CNPq Junior Scientific Initiation scholarship to develop scientific and technological research activities at ISD .\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
