The 5th Multidisciplinary Intervention Day for Neurogenic Bladder began this Friday (25), an event promoted by the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), which brings together health professionals and researchers to debate and qualify care for people with neurogenic bladder and intestine. The event continues until Saturday (26), when lectures will take place at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), one of the ISD units in Maca\u00edba (RN).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

This year, the Journey's theme is \u201cInnovation and Technology in Health in the Treatment of Neurogenic Bladder and Bowel\u201d On the first day of the event, the program included mini-courses, which covered topics such as: interprofessional assessment and management of neurogenic bladder and bowel, neuromodulation and use of urodynamics in clinical reasoning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cWe know that care for patients with neurogenic bladder is still very neglected. We have been on this journey for five years, it is multidisciplinary so that all areas are involved and so that we can unite the speech of health professionals around these patients, showing that there is indeed treatment for neurogenic bladder and bowel and that these patients can be accompanied.\u201d, says ISD physiotherapist preceptor Natalia Barbosa, one of the coordinators of the Journey.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

ISD is a reference in the care of patients with neurogenic bladder and bowel. The line of care resulted in several articles and master's theses, ranging from the analysis of treatment protocols to the development of new technologies aimed at managing people with neurogenic bladder and bowel. \u201cOur objective with the event is to plant seeds, both among health professionals and students, to improve care for these patients\u201d, adds Nat\u00e1lia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

On Saturday, the program of lectures and the exhibition of scientific works begins, the latter part of which is unprecedented at the event. \u201cSometimes the management of neurogenic bladder is very traditional, catheterization or medication, and tomorrow we will show technologies that can help in the treatment of these patients, including some new research that is not yet in the clinical area\u201d, he highlights.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Speaker of the 5th Journey and manager of the Anita Garibaldi Health Research and Education Center (Anita), from ISD, Lilian Lira Lisboa, highlights that the Journey brings together health professionals, undergraduate and postgraduate students and users of this line of care. \u201cThe Neurogenic Bladder Journey is an activity that provides a broad discussion of the topic of neurogenic bladder and intestine in various health conditions that exist in neurological changes or injuries. This year's themes were defined with the precept of awareness, critical and reflective thinking of multiple systems involved in controlling urination and evacuation, as well as presenting, in a multi-professional way, new technologies that add value to existing therapies\u201d, he reports.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
