The Santos Dumont Institute participated in the National Seminar on Residencies in the Professional Area of Health, held in Bras\u00edlia on September 4 and 5. The event was held by the Secretariat for Management of Work and Education in Health of the Ministry of Health (SGTES\/MS), in partnership with the Secretariat for Higher Education of the Ministry of Education (SESU\/MEC), and aimed to discuss the strengthening of residency programs in the country and professional qualification in priority areas for the Unified Health System (SUS).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The ISD was represented by the coordinator of the Multiprofessional Residency program in Health Care for People with Disabilities (RESPCD), Lorenna Santiago, and by the resident social worker J\u00e9ssica Silva, both members of the Decentralized Multiprofessional Residency Commission of Rio Grande do Norte (CODEMU\/RN).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The seminar was attended by approximately 250 participants, including residents, coordinators, tutors and preceptors from all over Brazil. In addition to supporting the development of the National Health Residency Policy, the event seeks to discuss the improvement of priority actions, including encouraging the training of specialists in residency programs in priority areas and regions for the SUS (PR\u00d3-RESID\u00caNCIAS).<\/span><\/p>

\u201cThe intention is for the National Policy to be developed based on the perspectives of several people from all over the country. At the Seminar, we were able to participate in working groups that discussed, for example, management, appreciation of residents, preceptors and tutors, pedagogical aspects\u2026 we were able to contribute from this regional perspective, highlighting the needs that we understand to be important for greater appreciation and strengthening of the residencies\u201d, says Lorenna Santiago. In addition to contributing from their own reality, they were also able to hear representatives from other states, who contributed with different perspectives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

RESPCD<\/b><\/p>

The Multiprofessional Residency Program in Healthcare for People with Disabilities (RESPCD) at ISD is a pioneer in Brazil. Currently in its sixth class, RESPCD covers the areas of Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Psychology, Social Work and, in its next selection, will also receive professionals with a degree in Occupational Therapy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

RESPCD activities are developed in the two units of the Santos Dumont Institute in Maca\u00edba (RN): the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS) and the Anita Garibaldi Center for Health Education and Research (Anita), through the ISD Specialized Rehabilitation Center, promoting auditory, intellectual, physical and visual rehabilitation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

RESPCD prioritizes the integration of teaching, research and extension in health services, acting from the perspectives of person- and family-centered care. The Program trains professionals capable of offering comprehensive care to people with disabilities from a multidisciplinary perspective, valuing the role of the Unified Health System (SUS) as the organizer of Brazilian public health policy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
