The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) received representatives from the Ministry of Sports and the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) last Thursday morning (4) to present the Paradesporto line of care and discuss possibilities for partnerships. One of the goals is to enable the construction of a parasports complex to expand the model implemented at the ISD Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER ISD).<\/p>\n
Since 2023, the ISD has been accredited by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) and offers access to parasport modalities through the Paralympic Reference Center, which operates in Maca\u00edba, for children and adults from across the state. Currently, the service includes free evaluation and training in bocce and athletics.<\/p>\n
The team from the Ministry of Sports, accompanying members of the Ministry of Education who make up the Management Contract Assessment and Monitoring Committee (CAACG), visited the gymnasium where ISD's parasports activities take place, at the Anita Health Education and Research Center Garibaldi (Anita). A previous meeting, on Wednesday (3), was also attended by the superintendent of the Ministry of Health, Jalmir Sim\u00f5es.<\/p>\n
\u201cA great potential that the Ministry of Sports has here is its training capacity, it is having this here as a training laboratory for health professionals, so that they understand that, regardless of the line of care, sport is a possible strategy in life. of people with disabilities\u201d, assessed the general director of ISD, Reginaldo Freitas J\u00fanior.<\/p>\n
On the occasion, Anita's manager, Lilian Lisboa, the manager of the International Institute of Neurosciences Edmond and Lily Safra (IIN-ELS), Edgard Morya, the coordinator of CER ISD, Camila Sim\u00e3o, and the Coordinator of ISD's Teaching Activities, Samantha Maranh\u00e3o, explained how Paradesporto, one of ISD's 12 lines of care, can be a powerful tool in the rehabilitation and promotion of participation and social inclusion of people with disabilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis moment was organized so that we could present the model, with the main objective of establishing partnerships to promote more and more permanent education actions, research actions and also expand Parasports in the network of people with disabilities\u201d, pointed out the CER ISD coordinator, Camila Sim\u00e3o.<\/p>\n
The executive secretary of Paradesporto, F\u00e1bio Ara\u00fajo, recalled that the Ministry of Sports has an open deadline for registering projects for the Sports Incentive Law and that this is an opportunity to strengthen ties between the Institute and the federal executive branch.<\/p>\n
The representative also informed that the project presented could serve as inspiration for other similar initiatives throughout Brazil. \u201cWe need examples like yours to convince people that sport can really change the lives of people with disabilities\u201d, he acknowledged.<\/p>\n
The visits and discussions included the participation of V\u00e2nia Tie, general coordinator of Parasports at the Ministry of Sports; Tassiana Barreto, executive secretary of the Ministry of Sports; Tib\u00e9rio Maribondo, Regional coordinator of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB); Theresa Helena Queiroz, technical collaborator at the General Coordination of Health for People with Disabilities of the Ministry of Health and Marilene Soares, coordinator of the RN PcD Network.<\/p>\n
