A delegation of prosecutors and prosecutors from the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Norte met, last Monday (17), with members of the management of the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), in Maca\u00edba. The objective of the meeting was to learn more about ISD's teaching, research and extension activities, with an emphasis on maternal and child health and people with disabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The visitors were received by the general director of ISD, Reginaldo Freitas J\u00fanior, at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neurosciences (IIN-ELS), an ISD unit that focuses on studies in neurosciences. There, the IIN-ELS manager, Edgard Morya, presented the scientific work and the main lines of research developed at the institution.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Next, the promoters visited the therapeutic gym, located on the first floor of the building, a space where multidisciplinary services are provided aimed at the rehabilitation of people with disabilities. The structure is part of the ISD's Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER IV).<\/span><\/p>\n

The visit continued at the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (Anita), an ISD unit where services are provided for maternal and child care, people with disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and parasports. The promoters were introduced to the Institute's multidisciplinary service format, which enhances the qualified discharge of users, and to the ISD management model, linked to the Ministry of Education.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe leave ISD very enchanted with everything that is being done, with all the potential and quality of the service being provided. We want to adapt the Institute's successful service model to other realities of the Unified Health System, with the aim of improving the quality of the service offered in the public health network\u201d, stated prosecutor Rosane Moreno, coordinator of the Operational Support Center for Prosecutors. of Health Justice.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

One of the prosecutors' concerns is the increase in the number of lawsuits resulting from SUS care failures, a situation that increases health costs for public authorities. Another concern is the waiting lists for rehabilitation procedures and services, which, in many cases, leads to the worsening of patients' clinical conditions. \u201cNormally, judicializations end with very high judicial blocks and these amounts end up going to private companies. So, we want to structure the service so that we can, in addition to serving people who do not have assistance, reduce the use of public resources directed to individual demands, building a more equitable model\u201d, he explains.<\/span><\/p>\n

The general director of ISD, Reginaldo Freitas J\u00fanior, highlights that Rio Grande do Norte needs a collective effort to overcome challenges in the area of public health, especially in assisting people with disabilities. The manager pointed out that the meeting with the Public Ministry was an opportunity to build bridges aimed at strengthening the SUS in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn a broader sense, all teaching, research and extension actions developed by ISD are linked to the guarantee of fundamental and social rights, the promotion of citizenship and the uncompromising defense of education as a means for transforming Brazilian social reality. The actions of the Public Prosecutor's Office, in the same way, are absolutely imbued with these same purposes. We understand how beneficial this initiative is to learn more about our work and, above all, identify common paths to strengthen the SUS and the Care Network for People with Disabilities. Our state has major challenges to be overcome and this really requires a collective and intersectoral effort. I think this meeting was very useful in terms of identifying common objectives and potential strategies to overcome these challenges\u201d, analyzed Reginaldo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prosecutors Carla Amico and Manoel Onofre and prosecutors Rosane Moreno, Sasha Alves do Amaral and Guglielmo Marconi, as well as prosecutors' advisors, participated in the visit. ISD was represented by Reginaldo Freitas J\u00fanior, general director; Lilian Lisboa, manager of Anita; and Camila Sim\u00e3o, coordinator of CER\/ISD.<\/span><\/p>\n
