Neuroscience, rehabilitation, robotics, sustainability and innovation are some of the topics that will be the focus of the 21st edition of the National Science and Technology Week, which will be held at the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) in Maca\u00edba in the form of a Science Fair and Scientific Exhibitions. The event will take place on October 16, 17 and 18, bringing together elementary, high school and technical school students from the public school system in several cities in Rio Grande do Norte. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The ISD Science Fair and Scientific Exhibitions are held with the support and resources of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. This year, the event will be held for the third time at the Institute as part of the National Science and Technology Week, which has as its theme \u201cBiomes of Brazil: Diversity, Knowledge and Social Technologies\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

On this occasion, students participating in the 'Science Fair' category will present scientific stands and posters on various topics, such as health, climate, science and technology, environment, sustainability, among others. The Scientific Exhibitions bring to the public scientific exhibition activities, experiments and games, with the aim of introducing children and adolescents to the world of neuroscience.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

The event will be held at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), an ISD unit in Maca\u00edba. Around a thousand children are expected to participate, coming from various municipalities in the metropolitan region of Natal and the interior of the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tutorials prepared students for the Fair<\/span><\/p>\n

Thinking about welcoming and adapting children who have no previous experience with science fairs, ISD promoted a Project Tutoring focused on SNCT activities for public schools in Maca\u00edba. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

During the training, master's students and professors from the Institute's Neuroengineering Postgraduate Program introduced concepts about science and research and guided students on possible topics for their work. During the Fair and Exhibitions, students will return to present the ideas that emerged or were improved from this practice. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The works presented at the Science Fair will be evaluated by the event's scientific committee and, at the end of each day of presentations, the best-rated works will be awarded with trophies, medals and certificates in a special ceremony. <\/span><\/p>\n
