Between October 7th and 10th, the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) received a visit from the Management Contract Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (CAACG), linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC), and a delegation made up of representatives from the MEC, the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Information (MCTI).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the period in Maca\u00edba\/RN, the group participated in meetings and visited the two ISD units, the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS) and the Anita Garibaldi Center for Health Education and Research (Anita), where they visited the laboratories and health care areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

The main objective of the visit was to monitor the Institute's activities throughout the first half of 2025, in the areas of teaching, research, and outreach. As a Social Organization, the ISD has a Management Contract with the Ministry of Education. The Contract defines the action strategies for fulfilling the ISD's mission as an executor of public policies. The impact of these actions is measured through performance indicators and targets agreed upon between the ISD and the Ministry of Education. The Commission conducts evaluations biannually.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Until June, the ISD demonstrated an annual trend of achievement in all 13 current indicators, which involve the publication of scientific articles by faculty and students, the occupation of laboratories by external researchers, the impact of health actions, the use of installed capacity by undergraduate students and residents of health programs, the leverage of resources and administrative costs, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

"We recognize ISD's efforts and dedication to achieving the goals agreed upon in the Management Contract. These results demonstrate not only the numbers, but also the impact of these actions on society," said CAACG President Fabio Cesar Braga de Abreu e Lima.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Committee is comprised of experts in the ISD's fields of activity. They are responsible for evaluating the institution's fulfillment of its mission as a social organization and proposing recommendations, potential corrective actions, and new goals and horizons for the Institute to achieve.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the visit, the possibility of expanding ISD's activities in the areas of science and technology and health was also discussed, through the involvement of other ministries in the current Management Contract, which is maintained solely with the Ministry of Education. "These are areas in which ISD already operates and which could grow in the coming years with new investments," stated Jaqueline Silva, project manager at the MEC Executive Secretariat.<\/span><\/p>\n

ISD Director-General Reginaldo Freitas J\u00fanior expressed his gratitude for the CAACG and the representatives of the interministerial committee's considerations and recommendations. He noted that the Commission "plays a fundamental role in the growth and consolidation of the Institute's activities, being instrumental in defining tangible goals and in the biannual monitoring of ongoing actions, suggesting course corrections when necessary."<\/span><\/p>\n
