Em sua chegada ao IIN-ELS, Julianne ouviu de Edgard sobre \" width=\"430\" height=\"364\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8795\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reginaldo Freitas J\u00fanior talks about one of CEPS&#039; projects, Arte de Nascer, which won an international award in 2015<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On Monday, July 18, the Secretary of Labor, Housing and Social Assistance (SETHAS) of Rio Grande do Norte, <strong>Julianne Faria<\/strong>, visited two units of the <strong>Santos Dumont Institute (ISD)<\/strong> located in Maca\u00edba (RN), about fifteen kilometers from Natal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Julianne, who is also the First Lady of RN, met the <strong>Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS)<\/strong> and the <strong>Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS)<\/strong>. She was received by <strong>Reginaldo Freitas Junior<\/strong>, director of teaching and research at ISD; <strong>Edgard Morya<\/strong>, research coordinator at IIN-ELS; and <strong>Hougelle Simplicio<\/strong>, neurosurgeon and researcher at ISD.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reginaldo spoke about the work carried out at CEPS, explaining that the institution&#039;s role as a reference center for maternal and child health is in addition to its mission to train health professionals. He also spoke about the importance of social responsibility as a guiding principle in health education to strengthen the SUS.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8796\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8796\" style=\"width: 430px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8796\" src=\"https:\/\/institutosantosdumont.org.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1638.jpg\" alt=\"Edgard Morya explica o funcionamento do Lokomat, equipamento usado na reabilita\u00e7\u00e3o de pacientes com les\u00e3o medular\" width=\"430\" height=\"323\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8796\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At CEPS, Edgard Morya explains how Lokomat works, equipment used in the rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injuries<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Upon her arrival at IIN-ELS, Julianne heard from Edgard about the lines of research being developed, especially those focused on brain-machine interfaces, aimed at patients with spinal cord injuries or neurological complications, such as Parkinson&#039;s disease. Edgard also highlighted the innovative profile of the <strong>Master&#039;s Degree in Neuroengineering at IIN-ELS<\/strong> \u2013 unique in Brazil \u2013 and the potential it represents for the scientific and technological development of Rio Grande do Norte.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Secretary expressed her willingness to form future partnerships with the ISD and stated:
