This is important for them to better understand the extended journey of the student, who spends part of his time at school and another part at the Science Education Center.

“This work with the CEC has really brought elements so that we can further improve our practice. This interface already has some important results in terms of further strengthening the role of the pedagogical director and the administrative director. The perspective is to expand to other teaching units so that other managers can participate as students come from other units as well”, said Judineide.

Guilherme Lopes, educator and coordinator of the training program for CEC managers, says: “The experience has been one of mutual and constant learning, as our proposal is to form a group willing to collectively reflect and face the challenges of school management. In this process, we are getting to know better the reality of the municipal schools of Natal every day and the administrators are able to count on a space where their experiences are shared and new knowledge about the public school is produced”.

The director of the school department of the Natal SME, Luciene Urbano, confirms the importance of working together and says that the managers are very motivated with this training: “Our perspective in this partnership with the ISD is that we can transpose theory into practice in this training of managers, in an attempt to find a way to carry out some processes, so that we can achieve results in the learning of our students. What is most striking about this partnership is that we are starting to change the thinking, posture, and daily school life of managers. That for me is a start. It is moving, provoking, unsettling,” she said.

Continuing Education Program for Educators

From left to the right: Rosemarie Loer Bellin, head of the actions and projects sector for elementary education at SME Natal; Judineide Domingos, assistant secretary for pedagogical management of the teaching network in the municipality of Natal; Luciene Urbano, director of the school department of the Natal SME; Rachel Dantas, advisor to the CECs; Dora Montenegro, director of the CECs; Guilherme Lopes, coordinator of the training program for managers at the CECs and Pablo Buriti, pedagogical assistant at the CECs.

The training course for managers of public schools that partner with the Scientific Education Centers (CECs) is one of the projects of the Institutional Program for Continuing Education for Educators (PISD 2), coordinated by the educator Rachel Dantas, advisor to the directors of the CECs.
