The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) has decided to extend until at least June 24 the social isolation measures it has adopted since March as a prevention measure against the new coronavirus.
The measures would expire this Tuesday, June 16, and include a special work schedule, with on-call or home office for teams, online classes and activities.
According to the Institute's Special Commission for the Covid-19 Pandemic, the new deadline follows the decision of the government of Rio Grande do Norte to extend the strict social isolation policy and other measures to combat the new coronavirus (Covid-19)
in the State.
The measures, at the ISD, have been adopted since mid-March and had already been extended five times: on April 8 and 23, as well as May 5 and 20 and June 4.
The decision for social isolation, explains the Special Commission of the Institute, is also based on guidelines from the Ministry of Health and on international evidence that this is the most effective preventive measure in this context.
The objective is to avoid agglomerations and the flow of people to reduce the risks of infection and spread of the virus.
As the pandemic situation evolves, new definitions may, however, be adopted and disclosed at any time.
How are the calls?
Face-to-face consultations remain suspended indefinitely in most clinics at ISD's Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center.
The exceptions are the high-risk areas of obstetrics and pediatrics – and care for victims of sexual violence – which are operating with on-call teams.
Rehabilitation clinic patients continue to receive support by phone, WhatsApp, and through materials such as videos, folders and booklets that Anita's teams are producing.
