Online classes, home office and other measures continue to reduce the risk of contagion

Posted in May 5, 2020

The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) has extended measures to prevent the new coronavirus until May 20. coronavirus that would be in force in the Organization until this Tuesday, the 5th. The measures have been adopted since mid-March and had already been extended twice, on April 8 and 23.

With this decision, the Organization's special work schedule will continue to apply, with teams working from home or on-call, in addition to classes and group activities at clinics that are only online. In-person care will continue only for high-risk obstetrics and pediatrics – and victims of sexual violence in Macaíba, the city where the Institute is headquartered.

The new deadline, announced by the ISD Special Commission for the Covid-19 Pandemic, is in line with the decree that the state government published this Tuesday (05), also extending the quarantine period until the 20th.

The objective, according to the Commission, is to avoid crowds and the flow of people to reduce the risks of infection and spread of the virus.

The justification is also based on guidelines from the Ministry of Health and international evidence that isolation is the most effective prevention measure in this context.

As the pandemic situation evolves, however, new definitions may be adopted and published at any time.

Work
The special work schedule at the Institute includes a home office for administrative and academic functions, and a shift schedule for operational activities.

The activities continue online for the master's degree in neuroengineering and the Multiprofessional Residency in Health Care for People with Disabilities.

For the population, 24-hour telephone lines for maternal and child care – pediatric and obstetric – as well as support via WhatsApp for these and other patients at the Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center were activated.

Patients at rehabilitation clinics continue to receive support by phone, WhatsApp, and through materials such as videos, folders and booklets that Anita's teams are producing.

The patient service lines are for answering questions, renewing medication, prescribing medication and providing psychological support.
