Instituto Santos Dumont brings neuroscience, technology and health to GO!RN

Posted in September 16, 2024

Assistive technologies, healthcare strategies, tools for inclusion and neurorehabilitation solutions. These are some of the themes that the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) will bring to GO!RN 2024, the largest innovation and business event in Rio Grande do Norte, which will take place on September 20 and 21, at the Natal Convention Center.

During the event, the Social Organization located in Macaíba will have an exhibition stand, where it will present samples of the work developed in the two units of the Institute, the Anita Garibaldi Center for Education and Research in Health (Anita) and the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS). In addition, the Institute will be present at the lecture series on the HealthTechs stage, with professionals and researchers addressing different topics.

“GO!RN is an opportunity for society to learn about our interdisciplinary work, which has been carried out for a decade in the areas of teaching, research and extension. We are actively working with a Specialized Center for Rehabilitation (CER ISD), a residency, a master's degree in Neuroengineering and with laboratories open to researchers, seeking to be integrated with local demands in research and assistance”, says Edgard Morya, manager of IIN-ELS and one of the speakers at the event.

In addition to research in neuroengineering and neuroscience, multidisciplinary health care and social inclusion will be the focus of the HealthTechs stage at GO!RN. Parasports, offered as one of the ISD's care strategies, and a soccer-based health care model developed and applied at the Institute, will be the topics of lectures.

“It is very important to discuss innovations and soft technologies to solve health problems in our daily lives. The football model is a very useful tool for various health contexts, so we will take this in a very interactive way. With parasports, we want to show that it transforms the lives of people with disabilities, but it can also benefit from science” Camila Simão, physiotherapist and coordinator of CER ISD.
