Representatives of the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) visited the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) units in Macaíba/RN this Wednesday (11). The delegation learned about the health services provided to the population at the Anita Garibaldi Center for Health Education and Research (Anita) and the laboratories, clinics, research lines and activities developed by the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS). At the end of the visit, the ministerial team expressed satisfaction with the quality of the services provided by the ISD on different fronts.
The deputy secretary of the MGI's Management and Innovation Secretariat, Kathyana Buonafina, reinforced that the main objective of the visit was to learn about the ISD's Social Organization model. In total, the Federal Government maintains a management contract with ten Social Organizations, with the Santos Dumont Institute being the only federal OS linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC).
“The idea was to get to know the ISD up close, since it is part of our role at MGI to monitor the work carried out by Federal Social Organizations. I am very pleased to see the number of exceptional results that the ISD has achieved in recent years, which reinforces the importance of the model and the partnership between the Federal Government and Social Organizations,” said Kathyana.
The Santos Dumont Institute has been qualified as a Social Organization by the Federal Government since February 2014. The institution carries out activities of public interest, with operations in the areas of maternal and child health, health of people with disabilities, neurosciences and neuroengineering. In addition, it has the pioneering Postgraduate Programs in Neuroengineering (PPGN) and the Multiprofessional Residency in Health Care for People with Disabilities (RESPCD).
Visiting the ISD for the first time, the Deputy Director General of the National Archives, Gecilda Esteves, was enthusiastic about the assistive technologies and research lines focused on rehabilitation developed by the Institute. She highlighted the relevance of the projects for Brazilian society. “I come from the area of public control, and for almost 20 years I audited institutions that work in the field of citizen service, especially in the health field, and I had never seen an institution with the quality of service provided by the ISD. We realized that, here, the service feeds back into teaching, research and innovation, generating a direct impact on the lives of those who depend on public services,” she emphasized.
Following this visit, the ISD and the MGI will further strengthen their dialogue to promote intersectoral partnerships, staff training and improve the Institute's management contract with the Federal Government. The ministerial delegation was accompanied by Jovan Gadioli dos Santos, administrative director of the ISD, Lilian Lisboa, manager of Anita, and Edgard Morya, manager of IIN-ELS.
