You Science Education Centers (CECs), units of Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), have among their principles the establishment of partnerships with education professionals from municipalities neighboring Natal and Macaíba, cities in the North of Rio Grande do Sul that are home to two units of the CEC School Alfredo J. Monteverde. This is the case of São José de Mipibu, about 30 kilometers from Natal, and which has teachers from Municipal School Professor Severino Bezerra de Melo as partners of CEC Macaíba.

To strengthen the dialogue with educators and managers of the municipality, Rachel Dantas, CECs pedagogical advisor, was invited to open the Pedagogical Journey of the municipal education network, on February 22, which was attended by Lucia Martins, Secretary of Education of São José de Mipibu, in addition to educators from the city, representatives of the category and the City Council.

On the occasion, Rachel spoke, among other subjects, about the importance of democratic education and also the need to exchange experiences, continuous assessments and school planning. Still part of the event, the CECs' pedagogical advisor met again on February 24 with teachers from the municipality, this time speaking with professionals from the Severino Bezerra de Melo School.

At the beginning of the activities, everyone introduced themselves briefly and Rachel took the opportunity to talk about the importance of knowing the names of those in the classroom. She cited examples practiced in the CECs, such as the records made by students systematizing the knowledge produced at the end of each class: “if you don't do this, knowledge is scattered”. Rachel also mentioned course plans, which at CECs are presented at the beginning of annual activities so that students understand how the school year is planned. During the lecture, some teachers from São José de Mipibu spoke about everyday life in the classroom, pointing out some of the difficulties faced and giving their opinion on the transformations in contemporary education.

Rachel believes that the strengthening and expansion of these partnerships reinforce the commitment of the Science Education Centers to education and care for students. The exchange of experiences and the daily experiences of students in the regular school and in their communities bring the contents of their realities closer to scientific knowledge, presented both in their schools of origin and in the CECs.

Currently, CEC Macaíba has 20 partner public schools (municipal or state) with students coming from: Parnamirim, Bom Jesus, São José de Mipibu and, of course, Macaíba. 25 students from the Severino Bezerra de Melo School attend this Science Education Center in the opposite school shift, on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon. The number of vacancies for the morning shift will soon be expanded, with 30 students coming from the Municipal School Felipe Tavares de Paiva, located in Taborda, rural area of São José de Mipibu. The Scientific Education Centers (CECs) are present in Natal (RN), Macaíba (RN) and Serrinha (BA).
