CEC Natal participates in the regional stage of the 1st National Conference on Alternatives for a New Education

O Scientific Education Center (CEC) Alfredo J. Monteverde School, Natal (RN) unit, was present at the 1st National Conference on Alternatives for a New Education (CONANE) – Northeast Edition, which took place on May 12th, at the Childhood Education Center (NEI/CAp) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).

The coordinator of CEC Natal, Walter Romero Junior, and the pedagogical assistant at CEC Natal, Maria Alice Fernandes, participated in the conversation circle at one of the moments of the event, when they shared with those present the pedagogical project and educational practices adopted in the Scientific Education Centers of the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD).

In the teaching-learning process adopted in CECs in the opposite shift to that of regular schools, students coming from public education are trained by their educators to use various equipment and materials to appropriate the resources of arts and technologies, necessary for the development of the production of scientific knowledge. In the workshops that they attend over two years at the CECs, students learn to collect, select, interpret, question, produce and use different types of data and information, used in scientific practice to produce new knowledge, expanding awareness critique of reality.

About CONANE

This Conference was aimed at teachers, managers, coordinators and other invited professionals from governmental and non-governmental institutions, who work with new innovative educational practices and who seek to develop an integral education of the subject, in school and non-school contexts.

The next step after the event will be to collectively write a document that brings positions and directions for an agenda at local, regional and national levels regarding integral education. The document will be presented at CONANE – National Stage, which will take place in Brasília, from June 15th to 18th, 2017.
