O Neuroengineering Symposium aims to stimulate and expand scientific, technological and extension production in translational and interdisciplinary research; and to provide and encourage technical, scientific and academic cooperation in the NE region, mainly by providing an interdisciplinary laboratory structure open to postgraduate programs from Brazil and abroad. In addition to its scientific and technological character, this symposium has also been an important agent in stimulating the participation of high school students from public schools in the region.

A Rio Grande do Norte Care Network for People with Disabilities Conference is an annual extension event organized by ISD, whose main objective is to promote assistance actions centered on the patient and family with a research, teaching and extension character, as well as to strengthen the integration between users and workers who work in the rehabilitation of patients.
Multidisciplinary Intervention Day in the Neurogenic Bladder
The first edition of Multidisciplinary Intervention Day in the Neurogenic Bladder The event took place in 2017 and was held in partnership with the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). The event focused on multidisciplinary care for children with Neurogenic Bladder (NB) in general, discussing current efforts to care for these patients and how care strategies can be advanced. It also focused on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) framework for NB, bladder and bowel dysfunction in patients with Spinal Cord Injury, and provided psychological support to families of children with NB.
ISD Science Fair and Scientific Exhibitions
A Science Fair and Scientific Exhibitions It is held with the support of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation and is part of National Science and Technology Week. The event is held annually at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), a unit of the Santos Dumont Institute in Macaíba.
Brain Week
A ISD Brain Week offers elementary and middle school students the opportunity to unravel the mysteries of the brain and learn about the world of neuroscience. Supported by the Brain Research Organization (IBRO) and the Dana Foundation, the event's main objective is to expand and introduce scientific knowledge to the general public, with activities covering a variety of topics. At ISD, programming includes brain-computer interfaces, computer control, and much more!
Neural Mechanisms of Cognitive Function
This event aims to promote an integrative discussion on the physiological neural mechanisms and internal states that give rise to cognitive functions. In its first edition, the event featured lectures by renowned researchers from different fields and countries, ensuring representation of gender, cultural, and academic diversity. Topics discussed included the circuitry and cellular basis of cognitive functions, computational models, and brain oscillations.
Meeting of the Ethics Committees for Research with Human Beings
The target audience is researchers, members of research committees (RECs), research participants, and those interested in human research. Professionals from all over Brazil participate in the program, building a collective and knowledge-rich dialogue.
