The Technological Innovation Center (NIT), approved by ordinance no. 28 of March 26, 2025, was created with the purpose of managing the institutional innovation policy and aims toelar by maintenance of the institutional policy to encourage the protection of creations, licensing, innovation and other forms of technology transfer, in addition to the following attributions:
- Evaluate and classify the results arising from research activities and projects
- Evaluate independent inventor's request for adoption of invention
- Give an opinion on the convenience and promote the protection of creations developed at ISD
- Provide an opinion on the suitability of disclosing creations developed at ISD, which are subject to intellectual protection
- Monitor the processing of orders and maintenance of ISD intellectual property titles
- Develop technological prospecting and competitive intelligence studies in the field of intellectual property, in order to guide ISD's innovation actions
- Promote and monitor the ISD's relationship with companies, especially for the activities provided for in articles 6 to 9 of Law No. 10,973 of December 2, 2004 and its amendments.
- Negotiate and manage technology transfer agreements from ISD

Open Labs
The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) has an interdisciplinary research infrastructure to develop scientific studies and training in the areas of Neuroscience, Neuroengineering and Health. The ISD has an interdisciplinary team of researchers and research support technicians available to assist in research and training of young students.
With the aim of encouraging the sharing of ISD's interdisciplinary laboratories and contributing to the strengthening of research in Brazil, researchers external to the institution can submit requests to use the infrastructure available in the areas of Neuroscience, Neuroengineering and Health.
