Posted in August 22, 2017

During the week of August 14-17, students from all workshops at the Center for Scientific Education (CEC), Natal-RN unit, discussed the 11 years of Law 11,340, known as Maria Penha Law, established on August 7, 2006, which creates mechanisms to prevent domestic and family violence against women.

The objective of this activity was to encourage reflection on the high rates of violence against women. In addition to discussions during the workshops, there were also activities during the break, with the display of the “Violence Clock” indicating that every two seconds, a woman is a victim of physical or verbal violence in Brazil. At the same time, a survey was conducted with the students about the types of violence against women that are most common in their daily lives. The records were placed in a ballot box, which made it possible to create graphs that will be used for analysis in the workshops over the coming weeks.
