The Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), a social organization linked to the Ministry of Education located in the municipality of Macaíba (RN), launched this Thursday, January 11, a call for projects to be selected for use in the institution's open national laboratories. The call, which will be open on a continuous basis, will be an opportunity for researchers from other regions of Brazil to use the research facilities in the selected projects. Click here to access the document. It can also be accessed in the “Research” > “Interdisciplinary laboratories” tab.
The activities of the open national laboratories will be developed at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), one of the two ISD units. With over 12,000 square meters of built area, the IIN-ELS has a modern laboratory infrastructure and equipment, as well as a team of research and development support technicians responsible for the laboratory facilities.
The purpose of the call is to enable the interdisciplinary sharing of the ISD's open laboratory infrastructure, contributing to the strengthening of research developed in the country. The laboratories have specialized activities in the areas of Neuroscience, Neuroengineering and Rehabilitation.
Initially, four laboratories will be open to the general public: Human Electrophysiology and Human-Machine Interface; Microscopy; Neuroengineering and Neurorehabilitation.
To submit a proposal, the proponent must have a minimum Master's degree, not be an ISD professional, be affiliated with an educational institution and have an updated CV on the CNPq Lattes Platform. The inclusion of undergraduate, Master's and PhD students in proposals is encouraged, and the requirement of a minimum Master's degree applies only to the proponent, who must be the professor, advisor or researcher responsible for the project.
Submitted proposals must include the use of the physical infrastructure that will be required, including equipment and materials, a list of which is available on the “Laboratory Structure” tab on the institution’s website (www.isd.org.br).
The selection analysis of the proposals will be conducted by an internal committee, advised by the technical team responsible for the ISD laboratories. The criteria for analyzing the proposals are listed in the notice, as well as the procedures for scheduling and standard operating procedures (SOP), the rules for use and coexistence of the spaces.
