Registration is now open for the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) Science Fair and Scientific Exhibition. The event will take place on October 22nd, 23rd, and 24th at the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS) in Macaíba. It is open to students from public and private schools throughout Rio Grande do Norte. Registration is required by the schools. The full announcement, including the registration form, is available on the ISD website (click here to check it out).
The ISD Science Fair and Scientific Exhibitions are part of the 22nd National Science and Technology Week (SNCT) and are held with support from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq); the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT); the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI), as part of the Pop Science Program; the Ministry of Education (MEC), as part of the Full-Time Schools Program; and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). This year, the SNCT's theme is "Planet Water: Ocean Culture to Confront Climate Change in My Territory."
Students from elementary, high school, and vocational schools can participate in the Science Fair by presenting booths and posters on various scientific topics, such as science and social technologies, water, food, climate, digital economy and society, and health, among others. Papers can be presented individually or in groups, following the guidelines and format set forth in the announcement.
The works submitted to the Fair will be evaluated by the event's scientific committee, and at the end of each day's presentations, the top-rated works will be awarded trophies and medals in a special ceremony. All students and teachers who present their work at the Science Fair will receive a certificate of participation. Participation in the Science Fair is also open to students who wish to visit the exhibits.
The Workshops are aimed at students in Early Childhood, Elementary and High School and consist of science exhibition activities, experiments and games, with the aim of introducing children and adolescents to the world of neuroengineering and neuroscience in a playful and participatory way, in addition to promoting ocean culture and the dissemination of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
To participate in any of the event modalities, the school must internally select the interested students and complete the form available in the notice. This registration must be done by the school's management, pedagogical coordinator or teachers, with the due consent of those responsible for the child or adolescent under 18 years of age.
