Six members of the Bahia State Health Department (SESAB) were in Macaíba last Wednesday (3) for technical visits to the Anita Garibaldi Education and Research Center (Anita) and the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute of Neuroscience (IIN-ELS), units of the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD). The main objective of the visit was to learn about the work of the Specialized Rehabilitation Center IV (CER ISD), which serves children and adults from all over Rio Grande do Norte in its lines of care.
The delegation participated in a meeting with Camila Simão, coordinator of the CER ISD, and Lorenna Santiago, coordinator of the Multiprofessional Residency in Health Care for Persons with Disabilities (RESPCD). During the meeting, the CER's lines of care were presented and questions answered about the service's operation and regulation. A guided tour of the IIN-ELS facilities was also conducted by the unit's manager, Edgard Morya, who presented the service spaces and research facilities in neuroscience and neuroengineering.
“Visits like this are extremely important so that we can exchange experiences and strengthen the network of people with disabilities nationally,” said CER ISD coordinator, Camila Simão.
The group was formed by Mariana Amaral (Technical Area for Health of People with Disabilities at SESAB), Liliane Mascarenhas (Director of Care Management at SESAB), Roberta Sampaio (Executive Coordinator of the SESAB Office), Lucas Mucarzel (Project Coordinator at SESAB), Átila Pinheiro (Executive Coordinator of Infrastructure at SESAB) and Silvia Laranjeira (Planning and Management of CER III CEPRED at SESAB).
"SESAB is working on a project to build new CERs in Bahia, as well as to restructure our state-owned Specialized Rehabilitation Center, which is a benchmark for the entire state. Our main objective with the visit was to see the physical structure and the care model, seeking to understand how it operates from a psychosocial perspective with the patient," explained Mariana Amaral.
The visit reinforces national recognition of ISD's expertise in caring for people with disabilities, which combines health care, education, and research to expand access, quality, and innovation in rehabilitation.
