ISD's Multiprofessional Residency program opens unprecedented vacancies for Physical Education professionals; check the announcement.

Posted in January 9, 2026

Physical Education professionals will be able to join, starting in 2026, the Multiprofessional Residency in Healthcare for People with Disabilities (RESPCD), at the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD). The expansion was made official this Friday (9), with the publication of notice of the selection process to fill two vacancies recently authorized by the Ministry of Education (MEC).

Candidates with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from a course recognized or authorized by the MEC (Brazilian Ministry of Education) are eligible to apply. Applications are open until January 21st. The work-study grant is R$ 4,106.09, for an exclusive workload of 60 hours per week.

In an extraordinary format, the selection process will consist of two stages: a written exam, scheduled for February 1st, and a curriculum analysis. The final results are expected to be published on February 13th, according to the schedule in the announcement.

Those who pass will join the 9th class of RESPCD, whose selection process for positions in Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, and Occupational Therapy was completed in December. The start of activities is scheduled for March 2026.

The inclusion of Physical Education professionals reinforces the interdisciplinary nature of the residency program, a pioneer in the country in training specialists for the comprehensive care of people with disabilities within the Unified Health System (SUS). For these professionals, the training will also be an opportunity to experience, in practice, how Paralympic sport can be incorporated into the rehabilitation process at a Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER), promoting autonomy, social participation, and clinical advancements for users.

New job openings for Physiotherapy

In addition to the unprecedented openings for Physical Education professionals, the Ministry of Education has also authorized the creation of new positions for Physiotherapy professionals. There will be two new opportunities, with work-study support, starting in 2026.

With this, the total number of Physical Therapy residents approved in the last selection process will increase from two to four. The new residents will be called from the waiting list of the last selection process, following the order of classification.
