One of the actions promoted by the multidisciplinary team of Anita Garibaldi Health Education and Research Center (CEPS) in the context of Big Belly Program won the award for best scientific work XVI Latin American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Children and Adolescents, held in Paraguay from May 30 to June 1. This is yet another recognition of Barriguda, carried out by the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD) since 2015 – Visit the project page HERE and learn more about the objectives and awards received.
The project presented at the international event and developed in partnership with Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) addressed the activities carried out at Tenda Vermelha, a strategy implemented since 2018 for sexual and reproductive health education aimed at adolescents from the quilombola community of Capoeiras, the largest in Rio Grande do Norte.
In its institutional strategies, ISD seeks to be aligned with United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals and this award-winning action is related to Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
The Director General of ISD, Reginaldo Freitas Junior, and the Professor at UFRN, Ana Karla Freitas, presented their work in Asunción, the Paraguayan capital, and represented the entire Barriguda team at the awards ceremony.
