Coronavirus: ISD releases flowchart to guide care for pregnant women

Given the serious pandemic situation of the new coronavirus that the #Brazil and the world face, the Santos Dumont Institute (ISD), a Social Organization financed by Ministry of Education – MEC, publishes a series of publications for guidance in cases of suspicion and confirmation of the disease in one of your priority audiences: Pregnant women.

The content was produced in collaboration by infectious disease doctors, obstetricians and professionals in the areas of nursing and physiotherapy working at ISD, the State Department of Public Health (Sesap-RN) and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).

In this first material available, we present a proposed flowchart for outpatient care. The management proposal is based on experiences with other respiratory viruses, since Covid-19 is a recently emerging disease and the scientific community does not yet have robust data for categorical statements or the adoption of specific evidence-based conduct protocols. scientific.

Hoping that the information will be useful to assist teams in the field at this time, the authors note that the recommendations are, however, dynamic. They may change based on the evolution of current cases and the generation of new scientific knowledge about infection during pregnancy.

*In the next publications we will bring a checklist for hospitalization cases and 10 answers to the most frequently asked questions of women seeking care related to Covid-19.
